
Micah Jenkins (1 December 1835-6 May 1864) was a Brigadier-General in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.
Biography[]
Micah Jenkins was born on Edisto Island, South Carolina on 1 December 1835, and he graduated from "The Citadel" military academy in 1854. In 1861, he became the colonel of a South Carolina regiment in the Confederate States Army, and he fought at the First Battle of Bull Run and several major battles in Virginia; he nevertheless missed the Battle of Gettysburg. On 6 May 1864, Jenkins and James Longstreet came under friendly fire during the Battle of the Wilderness, and Jenkins was shot in the head, mortally wounding him. He died of his wounds a few hours later.
