The Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) is the police department of Miami-Dade County, Florida, serving the Miami metropolitan area. The department was formed in 1836, and it grew to have over 4,700 employees. 58.11% of its officers were Hispanic, 20.58% African-American, 20.02% white, and 1.29% other. The MDPD had eight stations, and it also supported other incorporated municipalities' police departments.
