Miam, also known as Aniba, was an ancient Nubian town located 143 miles south of Aswan, Egypt. Miam was founded in 3000 BC, and the region came under Ancient Egyptian rule after 2000 BC and evolved into a fortress town. During the New Kingdom (after 1550 BC), Miam grew in size and came to have several suburbs. The ruins of Miam are now submerged by Lake Nasser.
