The Mexican Navy is the navy of Mexico, founded on 19 January 1821. The navy's first war was against Spain from 1821 to 1829, defending Mexico from Spanish reconquest attempts. The navy would later fight in the Texas Revolution, the Pastry War, the Yucatan Rebellion, the Mexican-American War, the Franco-Mexican War, and the Mexican Revolution, after which its primary goal was to protect Mexico's waters from criminals. During the late 20th century and 21st century, its main focuses were fighting drug traffickers during the Mexican Drug War, protecting PEMEX's oil wells in Campeche, and helping people in hurricane relief operations.
