The Messina crime family is a family of the American Mafia based in Manhattan and Queens, New York City. The family, led by Harvey Noto during the early 21st century, was the third-most-powerful family in New York by 2008, and the family formed a rivalry with the Ancelotti crime family. The Messinas suffered from defections to the government, with made men such as caporegime Mark Volpe ratting out other members of the family. The family lost much of its strength after the Ancelottis killed several union leaders with links to the Messinas.
