Messenio Ticinius

Messenio Ticinius (89 BC-36 BC) was a legate of the Roman Republic.

Biography[]

Messenio Ticinius was born in 89 BC in Ariminum (present-day Rimini, Italy) to a patrician family, and he became the legate of one of the Roman armies sent by Julius Caesar to invade Britannia in 55 BC. At the Battle of Tillicoultry, the Roman army was destroyed by the Iceni, and Ticinius barely survived the retreat. He died in 36 BC.
