
Merkourios of Makuria (660-710) was the king of Makuria from 696 to 710, succeeding Zakharias I of Makuria and preceding Simeon of Makuria.
Biography[]
Merkourios was born in 660 to the Miaphysite Christian Nubian House of Azim, and he was the son of the first King of Makuria, Zakharias I of Makuria. Merkourios became the second king of Makuria after the death of his father in 696, and he reigned for fourteen years until his death in 710. His son Simeon of Makuria succeeded him.
