Maximilian Hermann (died 1583) was an explorer of Prussia who founded the colony of "Silberland" in South America.
Biography[]
Maximilian Hermann was born in Kolberg, Prussia (now Kolobrzeg, Poland) to a family of Protestant Germans, and he became an explorer for his nation. He set out from Prussia with a small group of settlers and landed in South America, where he founded the colony of "Silberland". Hermann built up the colony on the south bank of a river, diametrically opposed to the colony of Portugal on the north bank. Hermann was killed soon after when he attempted to scout out Billingsby, England's colony, and his colony would be destroyed due to England's monopoly on trade.
