Max Pearce Griffen (24 October 1915-17 August 2001) was a US Army lieutenant who served in the US 506th Infantry Regiment during World War II.

Biography[]

Max Pearce Griffen was born in Dillon, South Carolina on 24 October 1915, and he enlisted in the US Army in 1941 while working as an electrician. He went to Army Officer Training School and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the US 506th Infantry Regiment, and he took part in combat jumps over France before being sent on special missions to Nazi Germany. He was a squad member during the 1944 Bavarian chateau raid, deep in the Third Reich.
