Maurycy Fraenkel was a Polish-Jewish medical doctor who lived in Warsaw during World War II. He and his partner Magda Gross survived the Holocaust after their friends Jan Żabiński and Antonina Żabińska gave them shelter in the abandoned Warsaw Zoo; they were among nearly 300 "guests" to be rescued by the Żabiński family, and they survived the war.
