Maurice Vega (born 1984) was a criminal and hired contract killer from Chicago, Illinois.

In October 2012, he failed a hit on Aiden Pearce which caused the accidental death of his niece Lena. Months after recoving from his injuries, Aiden began searching for Vega with the assistance of hired fixer Jordi Chin.

Vega was captured by Pearce at Wrigley Field in 2013, where he remained in the captivity of Chin until Pearce had all those associated with his niece's death eliminated. Upon realizing Vega was as much of a victim as he was in all this, Aiden took pity on him and gave Vega a second chance to start a new life.

Biography[]

Maurice Vega was born in the United States in 1984 to a family of Spanish descent. He was abandoned as a child and spent most of his early years in foster care. Vega fell into a life of crime in his early teens and worked with local gangs as a getaway driver. At some point during his life, Vega married a woman named Abigail and attempted to start a new life with her. Soon after rejecting his criminal life, he was contacted by a hacker affiliated with one of Vega's former gangs who began stalking him and threatened to kill his wife should he refuse to work with them again. Vega unwillingly continued to work as a gang enforcer and was brought onto more violent crimes which he began to openly detest.

In 2012, Maurice was contacted by the Irish Mob to track down and eliminate Aiden Pearce in exchange for his freedom. Vega agreed to do the hit and managed to find Aiden driving in his car. As Maurice was readying up to kill Aiden, he noticed children in the back of the car and instead shot out the vehicle's tires. Resulting in a car crash that inadvertently killed Aiden's niece. When the Mob found out about Maurice's failure, they kidnapped his wife and put her into a human trafficking ring. The criminal underworld then allowed Vega to live his life as a free man, despite him seeing no reason to continue anymore.
