Matthias Koehl

Matthias Koehl Jr. (22 January 1935-9 October 2014) was Commander of the American Nazi Party from 25 August 1967 to 9 October 2014, succeeding George Lincoln Rockwell and preceding Rocky Suhayda.

Biography

Matthias Koehl Jr. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 22 January 1935 to Hungarian immigrants of German descent. He served in the US Marine Corps before becoming involved in neo-Nazi groups such as the National States' Rights Party and the American Nazi Party, joining the latter in 1960. He was a Deputy Commander before succeeding George Lincoln Rockwell as the party's "Commander" on Rockwell's assassination in 1967, and he renamed the organization "New Order" in 1983. Koehl was controversial for his esoteric fascist views, and he also expelled Joseph Tommasi and several other members of the party's National Socialist Liberation Front youth wing for ideological unorthodoxy and corrupt practices. He remained the ANP's leader until his death in 2014 from cancer.
