Matthew Lawler (1 January 1755 – 14 July 1831) was Mayor of Philadelphia (DR) from 1801 to 1805, interrupting John Inskeep's terms.

Matthew Lawler was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1755, and he served as a privateer during the American Revolutionary War before working in banking after the war's end. He served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1801 to 1805, and he later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he died in 1831.
