Matthew Harvey

Matthew Harvey (21 June 1781-7 April 1866) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-NH at-large) from 4 March 1821 to 3 March 1825 (succeeding Clifton Clagett and preceding Nehemiah Eastman) and the Democratic Governor of New Hampshire from 3 June 1830 to 28 February 1831 (succeeding Benjamin Pierce and preceding Joseph M. Harper).

Biography[]

Matthew Harvey was born in Sutton, New Hampshire in 1781, the brother of Jonathan Harvey, and he became a lawyer in Hopkinton. He served in the State House from 1814 to 1821, in the US House of Representatives from 1821 to 1825, as Governor from 1830 to 1831, and as a Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire from 1830 until his death in 1866.
