Matt Hancock

Matt Hancock (born 2 October 1978) was the Conservative Party MP for West Suffolk from 6 May 2010 to 30 May 2024, succeeding Richard Spring.

Biography[]

Matt Hancock was born in Chester, Cheshire, England in 1978, and he worked for his family's computer software company before working as a housing market economist in London and becoming involved in the Conservative Party. He was elected to Parliament in 2010 as the Tory MP for West Suffolk, and he went on to serve as Minister of State for Skills and Enterprise from 2013 to 2014, Minister of State for Portsmouth, Minister of State for Energy, and Minister of State for Business and Enterprise from 2014 to 2015, Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General from 2015 to 2016, Minister of State for Digital and Culture from 2016 to 2018, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport in 2018, and Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from 2018. On 26 June 2021, after he was pictured kissing his Whitehall aid and mistress Gina Coladangelo in violation of COVID-19 restrictions, Hancock resigned as Health Secretary and was succeeded by Sajid Javid; he and Coladangelo also separated from their spouses to move in together and continue their affair.
