The Matsugane-gumi is a Japanese yakuza family based in Kabukicho, Tokyo. The family was headquartered on Shichifuku Street East, and it was led by Mitsugu Matsugane by the 2010s. In 2018, the gang came into conflict with the powerful Kyorei-kai of Kyoto when the Kyorei-kai muscled in on Matsugane-gumi territory to protect their real estate industry ally Shigeru Kajihira's investment in the redevelopment of the land under the Advanced Drug Development Center (ADDC). The Matsugane-gumi's captain and effective leader Kyohei Hamura was arrested on suspicion of murdering several Kyohei-kai members, when, in fact, the Kyohei-kai's membership was being massacred by a serial killer, police detective Mitsuru Kuroiwa. Ultimately, Hamura had his revenge for his framing by revealing Vice Minister for Health Kaoru Ichinose's corruption, leading to the failure of the Kyorei-kai's real estate scheme in Kabukicho.
