Matsudaira Katamori (15 February 1836 – 5 December 1893) was the daimyo of the Aizu Domain from 1852 to 1868.
Biography[]
Matsudaira Katamori was born in the Tokugawa Shogunate capital of Edo and became the daimyo of the Aizu Domain in 1852 at the age of sixteen. As the Military Commissioner of Kyoto, he was extremely loyal to the Tokugawa shoguns, who were his family. Along with the Aizu, he fought the Imperial clans and were defeated, but Katamori was spared and became Chief of the Toshogu Shrine. Along with brothers Sadaaki, Yoshikatsu, and Mochiharu, the "Four Takasu Brothers" were influential in the Meiji court.
