Mathieu de Montmorency (10 July 1767-24 March 1826) was a French nobleman and statesman during the French Revolution and the Bourbon Restoration.

Mathieu de Montmorency was born in Paris, France on 10 July 1767 to an old noble family, and he served alongside his father during the American Revolutionary War. In 1789, he was elected as the youngest member of the National Assembly, but, after the French Republic was established, Montmorency transformed from a revolutionary into a royalist; his brother, a Catholic abbot, was guillotined in 1794 during the Reign of Terror. Following Napoleon I's defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, Montmorency was appointed to the Chamber of Peers. During the Bourbon Restoration, the devout Montmorency was considered a role model for young Parisiansdue to the simplicity of his clothes and mannors and the fervor and charity of his faith. He died from a heart attack on Good Friday, 24 March 1826.
