Biography[]
Massive Genius was a New York City-based rapper and music producer, and he became very successful and very wealthy, buying a gold-plated handgun and AK-47. In 1999, he met Christopher Moltisanti and Adriana La Cerva by chance at a fast food burger restaurant, where Moltisanti offended the predominantly African-American customers with racially charged remarks about welfare and food stamps.
Massive's crew were ready to fight, but a black NYPD officer informed the crew that Moltisanti was about to become a made man in Tony Soprano's crew, and that entering into a fight with him would be unwise. Massive's friend Orange J invited the two Italians to attend one of Massive Genius' parties, and he sought to enter into a relationship with La Cerva and get Moltisanti to convince Hesh Rabkin to give his friend Little Jimmy his royalties for songwriting.
Massive Genius attempted to shake Rabkin down, get "reparations", and ensure that Rabkin stopped taking credit for the work of black artists. Massive Genius threatened to sue Rabkin in reparations were not forecoming, but Rabkin pointed out that Massive Genius had illegally sampled a song to which Rabkin held the rights, and he threatened a counter-suit. Massive Genius responded by taking the issue to court.
