Aizawa and Morinaga

Aizawa and Morinaga as bodyguards

Masato Aizawa was born in Osaka, Japan, the illegitimate son of Tsubasa Kurosawa. In June 2012, when Kurosawa learned that he was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he asked Aizawa to be his successor, planning to wipe out the leadership of both the Omi Alliance and the Tojo-kai to give his son control of a massive, combined yakuza organization. Aizawa accepted, and he and his oath brother Yu Morinaga infiltrated the Tojo Clan and became bodyguards to Daigo Dojima. Aizawa and Morinaga viewed Daigo as incompetent, and, in December 2012, they conspired with Daigo's secretary Minoru Aoyama to assassinate Daigo in Fukuoka. However, they lost track of Daigo, who went into hiding after suspecting a plot against him. Aizawa and Morinaga discovered that Daigo's driver was Kazuma Kiryu, and they tracked him down to Nakasu Taxi and, although Kiryu initially refused to help them and even took them down in a fight, the two persuaded Kiryu to help them rescue Daigo after blaming Daigo's disappearance on Aoyama. During the raid on the Yamagasa-gumi headquarters, Morinaga was shot and injured by Aoyama, and Aizawa separated from Kiryu to take Morinaga to safety. Later, Morinaga killed Aoyama and claimed to Kiryu that he had killed Aizawa before disappearing.

However, Aizawa resurfaced in Kabukicho, where he fought in the Florist of Sai's underground coliseum, supposedly in exchange for information of Morinaga's whereabouts; however, Morinaga had already been murdered to cover Aizawa's tracks. Taiga Saejima met Aizawa in the ring, defeating him in a fight before teaming up with him to find Morinaga; however, the Florist soon reported Morinaga's death. Not long after, Aizawa set out to hunt down his rival Omi officer Naoki Katsuya after he interfered with his plans to assassinate Kiryu's adoptive daughter Haruka Sawamura at the Tokyo Bowl. Aizawa took control of the Tojo headquarters and awaited Kiryu's arrival, whereupon he revealed that he was Kurosawa's son. While Kurosawa wanted Aizawa to murder Kiryu and take control of the Tojo, Aizawa was determined to fight Kiryu fair and square and reach the top of the hill in the yakuza world on his own merits. Discarding his katana, he battled Kiryu in a fistfight, only with Kiryu to best Aizawa, even while bearing a gunshot wound received from Kurosawa. Afterwards, Kiryu told Aizawa to fight his way to the top, warning him that he would be ready for him once he made it there. Aizawa then passed out as Kiryu departed, and Aizawa's fate was unknown; he was likely arrested or killed for his crimes.
