Masanobu Honda (1538-20 July 1616) was the daimyo of the Honda clan and a general of the Tokugawa.
Biography[]
A daimyo from Mikawa Province, Masanobu took part in a 1563 peasant rebellion against Ieyasu Tokugawa and the strong Tokugawa clan. When the revolt was crushed, he fled and did not rejoin Ieyasu until the 1570s or 1580s at Tadayo Okubo's request. He joined Ieyasu in the escape through Iga after Nobunaga Oda's death, and fought bravely in the Sekigahara Campaign. While marching to join Ieyasu at Sekigahara he instead reinforced the Tokugawa vassal Nobuyuki Sanada at Numata Castle and arrived late at Sekigahara to join the final battle.
After serving in the Siege of Osaka as a Tokugawa general, he died several weeks after the death of Shogun Ieyasu in 1616.
