Martin "Marty" Santorelli (1933 - 15 June 1951) was an associate of the Moretti crime family during the 1950s. He worked with Joe Barbaro and Vito Scaletta on several occasions.
Biography[]
Marty was born in 1933 in New York City. As a child his father worked as a projectionist at the movie theater, this lead Marty to watch many films as a kid, particularly gangster films, and these films inspired him to be a mobster himself. He often hung around Freddy's Bar with his childhood friend Joe Barbaro, who introduced him to the mob.
Organized Crime[]
Marty worked as a cab driver in New York and would often get into incidents that Joe would have to bail him out of. In April 1951 he was asked by Falcone Associate, Steve Coyne to come along on a job to settle the score with some Greasers. As the Greasers drew guns, Marty saved Joe's life by shooting a Greaser that was about to shoot him. On June 15, 1951 Marty was chosen as the driver for the hit on Alberto Clemete. As Clemente and his men went to the parking garage where their car was, it is assumed Marty tried to shoot them himself, but he was shot instead. By the time Vito and Joe reached him, he had already died from his injuries.
