Biography[]
Marta Yelenova was an agent of Russia's SVR intelligence agency, and she was trained as a "Sparrow", an agent who could use "sexpionage" to extract information from targets. She was sent to Budapest, Hungary during the 2010s, where she was instructed by Maxim Volontov to gather information from American political aide Stephanie Boucher. In 2018, she was joined by Dominika Egorova, who was sent to seduce CIA agent Nate Nash. Egorova noticed Yelenova at an embassy event where she was flirting with Boucher, and, before Yelenova returned to the apartment, Egorova searched through Yegorova's room and found out that she was intending to meet Boucher (codenamed "Swan") in London. Egorova took credit for Swan when her uncle Ivan V. Egorov visited to pick up a status report, and she secured $250,000 to bribe Swan at the meeting in London. After Egorov left, an angry Yelenova prepared to shoot Egorova, saying that she had worked on Swan for years, and that she deserved the credit; however, Egorova told her that she had secured the bribe money, and, in order to force Yelenova to work with her, she revealed the secret that she had witnessed mobster Dmitri Ustinov's death. The next day, an angry Yelenova went to Volontov to ask him what he would do if she could get rid of Yelenova, to which Volontov said anything. Yelenova reported Egorova's sharing of the secret to the SVR command, hoping that Egorova would be punished, but she was instead killed in her bathtub by SVR assassin Sergei Matorin, who slit her throat and stabbed her several times. Matorin then showed the gruesome murder scene to Egorova, and he warned her to not share secrets again.
