The Marsi were an Italic people of ancient Italy, centered at Marruvium (now San Benedetto dei Marsi, Abruzzo). They joined the Samnites in 308 BC, but they submitted to the Roman Republic and became its allies in 304 BC. In 302 BC, they launched a failed revolt against Rome and were punished with territorial losses, and they remained faithful until the Social War. Although they were defeated in the war, they were granted Roman citizenship, and they were assimilated as Romans.
