Mario García Incháustegui (September 1924-4 December 1977) was a Cuban diplomat who served as Ambassador to Japan from 1974 to 1977.
Biography[]
Mario García Incháustegui was born to a wealthy Spanish family in Cuba in 1924, and he served as a judge under President Fulgencio Batista. In 1959, he was appointed Ambassador to Uruguay and Paraguay, and he also represented Cuba at the United Nations during the Cuban Missile Crisis. García went on to serve as Ambassador to Chile from 1971 to 1973 and to Japan from 1974 to 1977, and he was killed when Malaysian Airline System Flight 653 was hijacked by the Japanese Red Army and crashed near Johor, Malaysia.
