
Mariannette Miller-Meeks (6 September 1955-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-IO 2) from 3 January 2021, succeeding Dave Loebsack.
Biography[]
Mariannette Jane Miller was born in Herlong, Lassen County, California in 1955, and she served as a nurse and physician in the US Army Reserve from 1973 to 1997 and attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. She maintained a private ophthalmology practice in Ottumwa, Iowa until 2008 and became the first female president of the Iowa Medical Society. She was the Republican challenger of Democratic congressional incumbent Dave Loebsack in 2008, 2010, and 2014, being defeated each time. However, she served in the State Senate from 2019 to 2021; in 2020, she was elected to the US House of Representatives after Loebsack retired.
