Margaret Bryan (1468-1552) was Lady Governess to King Henry VIII's children Princess Mary, Princess Elizabeth, Henry FitzRoy, and Prince Edward. She was also the mother of the notorious courtier Francis Bryan.
Biography[]
Margaret Bryan was born in Beninbrough, Yorkshire, England in 1468, the daughter of a nobleman who was killed at the Battle of Barnet in 1471 during the Wars of the Roses. Bryan became Lady Governess of Princess Mary in February 1516, and she also cared for Princess Elizabeth, Henry FitzRoy, and Prince Edward. She died in Leyton, Essex in 1552.
