The Marcano crime family was an Italian-American organized crime syndicate that existed in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana during the 20th century. Sal Marcano led the family to greatness, and the Marcano family dominated the city; they controlled most of the rackets in the city, and they forced the other gangs to give them a cut of the action after rising to power in 1934. In 1968, the family was hunted down by Lincoln Clay after the family had black mob boss Sammy Robinson murdered, and Sal Marcano and most of the made members were killed, while their districts were taken over by Clay and his allies. The family was severely weakened by Clay's crusade, and it took the intervention of other American Mafia families to prevent its complete destruction.
