Manuel Taguena (1913-1971) was a Colonel of the Spanish Republican Army during the Spanish Civil War.
Biography[]
Manuel Taguena was born in 1913, and he joined the Communist Party of Spain (CPE) in 1936. While studying mathematics and physics at Madrid University, he joined the socialist youth and joined Republican Spain's militia during the Spanish Civil War. In November 1936, he became one of the first leaders of the mixed brigades of the CPE, and he rose to the rank of Colonel, fighting in the Aragon Offensive, Battle of the Ebro, and the Catalonia Offensive. In March 1939 he fled to France, and he died in exile in Mexico in 1971.
