
Manuel Requena (1802-1876) was the Republican Mayor of Los Angeles from 1844 to 1845 (succeeding Manuel Dominguez and Antonio F. Coronel and preceding Vicente Sanchez) and from 22 September to 4 October 1856 (succeeding Stephen Clark Foster and preceding John G. Nichols).
Biography[]
Manuel Requena was born in Yucatan, Mexico in 1802, and he moved to Los Angeles in 1834 and became a successful merchant. He served as Alcalde of Los Angeles from 1844 to 1845 and as Mayor in 1856, and he remained active in local politics until his death in 1876.
