Manuel Moran was a Bolivian Army officer. He served as a subordinate of La Unidad's commander, General Juan Pablo Baro Rebolledo, before uncovering the unit's ties to the Santa Blanca Cartel and defecting to the Kataris 26 rebels as a result. He was arrested by his former comrades and imprisoned at FOB Serpiente until American special forces rescued him in 2019, upon which he told them that they could get to the general through his daughter, Erendira Buendia.
