Manuel Jose Astorga Camus

Manuel Jose Astorga Camus (1784-28 November 1844) was a Chilean general during the Chilean War of Independence and an Aconcagua provincial assembly deputy in 1831.

Biography[]

Manuel Jose Astorga Camus was born in Santiago, Chile in 1784, and he joined the patriot cause during the Chilean War of Independence and commanded a battalion at the Disaster of Rancagua in 1814. In 1822, he became aide-de-camp to Supreme Director Bernardo O'Higgins, and he later went on to serve as a provincial assembly deputy in Aconcagua in 1831. He died in 1844.
