Manuel Bonilla

Manuel Bonilla Chirinos (7 June 1849-21 March 1913) was President of Honduras from 13 April 1903 to 1 February 1907 (succeeding Miguel R. Davila and preceding Miguel Oqueli Bustillo) and from 1 February 1912 to 21 March 1913 (interrupting Francisco Bertrand's terms). He was the founder of the conservative National Party of Honduras.

Biography[]

Manuel Bonilla Chirinos was born in Juticalpa, Honduras in 1849, and he served in the military from a young age. Originally a liberal, he later became a conservative, and he founded the Christian humanist ideals which led to the creation of the National Party of Honduras. He served as President from 1903 to 1907 and from 1912 until his death in 1913, and he gave generous concessions to the banana companies along the north coast of Honduras.
