The Mangano crime family was a Sicilian Mafia family that was led by Don Samuele Mangano. The family was based in Sicily until the 1950s, when the Mangano family moved to Cuba and Florida to pursue new business opportunities. The Manganos were partners of the Trapani crime family boss Dominic Corleone and the Jewish mobster Hyman Roth, and they were involved with the casino industry in Havana and a chop shop crime ring in Miami, smuggling exotic cars back to Sicily. In 1959, the Manganos were blamed for an assassination attempt on Dominic Corleone (which was, in fact, carried out by Roth's men), and Dominic took over their base of Global Storage in Miami, starting a war. The Manganos took over several Trapani fronts in Miami in a brutal war, but the Trapanis later succeeded in eliminating the Mangano made men and rackets. The Manganos were eliminated when Corleone bombed their compound and killed Don Samuele.
