Mangal Bagh (1973-28 January 2021), also called Haji Amir Mangal Bagh Afridi, was the leader of Lashkar-e-Islam.
Biography[]
Mangal Bagh was born in Bara in the Khyber Agency to the Sepa Afridi tribe in 1973, and after the ejection of Deobandi cleric Mufti Munir Shakir from Kurram Agency in 2004, he became a pirate radio host after having served as a local driver. Bagh formed Lashkar-e-Islam, a militant group in Pakistan, having become a person in power, and is based in the Tirah Valley. However, members of LEI are still in the Khyber Agency and in Bara. On 14 October 2015 his son Israfeel Bagh was killed by rivals, and Bagh himself was rumored to have been killed in a drone strike on Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan on 22 July 2016. However, on 7 March 2018, the United States added Bagh to its Rewards for Justice wanted list, confirming his survival. On 28 January 2021, Bagh was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Nangarhar Province.
