Manassas is an independent city in Virginia and the seat of Prince William County. The town, the site of two American Civil War battles (two major Confederate victories, 1861 and 1862) was incorporated in 1873, and it became the county seat in 1894. In 2017, Manassas had a population of 41,501 people.
