Mamma Scarponi was a small business owner in Little Italy, New York City. Scarponi was the owner of Trapani's Bakery after 1936.

Biography[]

Mamma Scarponi was born in New York City, New York to a family of Italian descent, and she worked as a baker. In 1936, she purchased the ownership of Trapani's Bakery from the Barzini crime family, which took it over following the murder of Corleone associate Johnny Trapani. She became an associate of the Stracci crime family, but this changed in August 1945 when Corleone associate Aldo Trapani extorted her and forced her to pay protecton money to the Corleones.
