Malik al-Sayf (1165-1228) was the Dai of Jerusalem for the Assassins Order.
Biography[]
Malik was a direct representative of the Imam Al Mualim. He was a training partner of Altair Ibn-La'Ahad and in 1191 was sent to find the Ark of the Covenant with him, but his younger brother Kadar al-Sayf was killed when Altair blew their cover and fled the onslaught. Malik lost his left arm, but managed to take the ark to Al Mualim. He was angered at Altair for being responsible for the death of his brother, as well as Altair's arrogance.
Malik again encountered Altair in Jerusalem, where he ran a bureau. He was rather rude to him, telling him that his actions very much concerned him and that the death of Talal Eberle was not his job, but Altair's. However, he brought up the Muslim-Jewish border market, Saint Anne's Church, and the Mosque as places that Talal might be. He told him that his information was much more than he deserved.
However, he helped him out in the future, and eventually came to forgive him. In 1192, he helped him fight to liberate Masyaf from Al Mualim when he and Altair found out that he was a Templar, and he became Altair's right-hand man in leading the Assassin Order after Al Mualim's death.
Death[]
Unfortunately, in 1228, Assassin Abbas Sofian decided to get revenge against Altair for a childhood offense by killing his son Sef Ibn-La'Ahad and taking over the Assassins. Abbas executed Sef and countless others, and as an accomplice of Altair, Malik was also a target. He was beheaded by Abbas and his men, who took over in a violent coup.
