The Malacca and Karimata straits expedition occurred in 1695 when the pirate Captain Rija preyed on Dutch and Acehnese shipping in the Strait of Malacca and the Karimata Strait amid the Golden Age of Piracy.

After resting and refitting at a ruined lighthouse on Belitung island, Rija and his ship Masina sailed out to seize new prizes from both the Dutch East India Company and the Aceh Sultanate. He first targeted ships in the Karimata Strait, destroying more than a dozen VOC fluyts and Acehnese vessels; he also destroyed Governor Wollebrand's privateering vessel. After wreaking havoc on merchant shipping, Rija attacked the Acehnese settlement of Kencur on the east coast of Sumatra, looting it of its valuables and sinking several Acehnese ships that attempted to come to the town's aid. Rija also intercepted a Dutch merchant fleet in the Strait of Malacca, easily overpowering and destroying its ships before they could reach safety. Having already traveled up the straits, Rija decided to conclude his piratical expedition and focus on helping Admiral Rahma's anti-Dutch rebellion.
