The Majdal Shams attack occurred on 27 July 2024 when a Hezbollah missile struck the Druze town of Majdal Shams in the northern Golan Heights, killing 11 teenagers and young adults between the ages of 10 and 20.

Starting on 8 October 2023, the day after Hamas' "al-Aqsa Flood" surprise attack on Israel, Lebanese Hezbollah joined in the attack by launching guided rockets and drone attacks at Israeli communities and military installations in Galilee and the Golan Heights, forcing the evacuation of 60,000 civilians. Iran came to use Iranian-made Falaq-1 rockets against Israel, and one of their rockets injured civilians on a soccer field in the Druze town of Hurfeish in June 2024.

On 27 July 2024, Hezbollah fired 100 rockets at Israel in retaliation for the deaths of four Hezbollah operatives in the village of Kafr Kila. At 6:18 PM, a projectile hit a soccer field near Majdal Shams' playground, killing 10 youths between the ages of 10 and 20 and injuring over 34 more. Iran claimed that an Iron Dome interceptor was to blame for the attack. Israel, whose general Ori Gordin stated a day earlier that Israeli troops on the Lebanese border were transitioning "for the transition to offense," characterized the Majdal Shams attack as the deadliest on Israeli civilians since 7 October. Israeli foreign minister Israel Katz said that the Hezbollah attack crossed all red lines and that the response would be accordingly, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Israel would retaliate harshly and inflict an unprecedented cost against Hezbollah.
