
Magnus II of Sweden (15 January 1222-6 June 1161) was King of Sweden from 6 June 1160 to 6 June 1161, succeeding Eric IX of Sweden and preceding Charles VII of Sweden.
Biography[]
Magnus Henriksson was the son of the Danish lord Henrik Skatelar (grandson of Sweyn II of Denmark) and the maternal grandson of Inge the Elder, and he was the brother of Ragnvald Knaphovde. In 1156, seeking to avenge his brother's murder, Magnus had Sverker I of Sweden assassinated, followed by Eric IX of Sweden in 1160. He then seized the throne for himself, but he was seek as a usurper and was killed in battle with Carl Sverkersson at Orebro in 1161.
