Magnus II of Norway (1048-28 April 1069) was King of Norway from 1066 to 1069, succeeding Harald Hardrada and preceding Olaf III of Norway.
Biography[]
Magnus Haraldsson was born in 1048, the son of King Harald Hardrada of Norway. In 1058, he led a viking expedition against Ireland, and he was also sent to assist Gruffydd ap Llywelyn against Aelfgar of Mercia and England. In 1062, he accompanied his father on campaign against Denmark, and he would become his father's regent while his father invaded England in 1066. Magnus became king of Denmark after his father's death, but he reigned for just a few years before his 1069 death, and his co-ruler and brother Olaf III of Norway succeeded him.
