Mael Coluim of Strathclyde

Mael Coluim of Strathclyde (945-997) was King of Strathclyde from 973 to 997, succeeding Dyfnwal ab Owain and preceding Owain Foel.

Biography[]

Mael Coluim was born in Strathclyde, Scotland in 945, the son of King Dyfnwal ab Owain of Strat Clut. He succeeded his father in 973 when Dyfnwal embarked on a pilgrimage to Rome; Dyfnwal died in Rome two years later. Mael Coluim had an unremarkable reign, and he peacefully reigned over Strathclyde and Cumbria until his death in 997.
