The Heckler & Koch MP5 is a German submachine gun that entered service in 1966. The MP5 was adopted by 40 nations and numerous military, intelligence, law enforcement, and security organizations; it is widely used by SWAT teams in North America. In 1999, the MP5 was replaced by the UMP submachine gun, but the MP5 was still widely used.
