The Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I) was a coalition of Western countries that was formed on 14 May 2004 to coordinate counter-insurgency operations between the member states. The United States, United Kingdom, Poland, and Australia were the original coalition members in the 200 invasion of Iraq, which led to the Iraq War - a total of 40 countries would contribute troops, with the countries ranging from El Salvador to Mongolia, South Korea, and Iceland, coming from all around the world. However, the bulk of the troops were US and British, with 112,000 troops being stationed in Iraq by MNF-I. By the end of 2009, all of the foreign troops except for the Americans had withdrawn, and MNF-I ceased to exist.
