Mitchell Jacob Decosta (born 1944), known as MJ to his friends, was an American marijuana grower who worked for the New Orleans chapter of the Black Panthers in 1968 when they were building a case against Sheriff Slim Beaumont and his targeting of African-Americans. Decosta helped the Black Panthers extract three key witnesses, while Lincoln Clay and Roxy Laveau distracted the Sinclair Parish Sheriff's Department. Later, after Beaumont was put behind bars, Decosta offered his services to Clay and the Black Mob, assisting Clay with growing high-quality marijuana which was used to help fund Clay's war against Don Sal Marcano.
