Máximo Cristóbal Valdespino in 1899

Máximo Cristóbal Valdespino (1852-1900) was a Spanish explorer and adventurer.

Biography[]

Máximo was born in Almería, Spain in 1852. He was a renowned explorer of whom much has been written about. His exploits include having had tea with the Viceroy of India, fighting in wars in South America, climbing mountains and swimming in the seas of the world - and having had many women. He has traveled to the American frontier to hunt for treasure.

In 1899, he met Arthur Morgan famous gunslinger and outlaw in Nebraska . Máximo is seen looking at a treasure map, frustrated with his inability to figure out the maps clues. When greeted, he will state that he has been hunting for treasure on the American frontier for the last three months and mentions that this part of the United States reminds him a lot of Almería in Spain. He plans on traveling to the island of Shikoku in the Japanese archipelago in search of the legendary Tokushima Sapphire, and because he pre-booked passage he has run out of time to find the frontier gold he was initially looking for.

He died in 1900 during the Boxer Rebellion while he was in China searching a legendary Jade Buddha. A group of Muslim boxers surrounded and beheaded him.
