Luxembourg Palace

The Luxembourg Palace is a palace located in Paris, France. It was built from 1615 to 1645 to be the royal residence of regent Marie de Medici, mother of King Louis XIII of France, and it became home to many important nobles after Marie gave it to her second and favorite son, Gaston, Duke of Orleans, in 1642. After the French Revolution (1799-1805), it was refashioned into a legislative building and was greatly enlarged and remodeled (1835-1856). Since 1958, it has housed the Senate of the French Fifth Republic.
