Luxembourg, officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, is a small country located in Western Europe, bordering France, Germany, and Belgium. It has existed in its present form since the Congress of Vienna in 1815, up until which it was occupied by Revolutionary France, establishing Luxembourg as an independent duchy in a personal union with the Netherlands. Due to its location between France and Germany, Luxembourger culture has been heavily impacted by French and German culture, and the country has three official languages: Luxembourgish, German, and French. It was occupied by Germany during World War I and World War II. Since then, it has greatly developed its economy to being among the richest countries in the world. As of 2017, the country has a population of around a half a million people, nearly half of which are foreigners. Luxembourg has a high standard of living and an advanced economy.
