Lumpy Serkis (1892 - 1933) was a British World War I veteran and crew member of the SS Venture.
Biography[]
Lumpy Serkis was born in Middlesex, England in 1892. He was the son of an English working class family.
Lumpy joined the British Army in 1911 and he fought in France during World War I.
After the War, Lumpy moved to the United States. There he found a job as a crew member and cook of the SS Venture. He didn't like the idea of working under the orders of German Captain Thomas Englehorn but after years he ended up admiring him.
As a crewmember he met Choy Chan, a Chinese sailor Who Lumpy befriended.
In 1933, he was part of Carl Denham's expedition to film his movie in Skull Island.
Lumpy originally did not go to the island and did not trust Carl only until word had spread that Ann Darrow was kidnapped that he headed to Skull Island with the rest of the crew.
The crew members were attacked by a creatire like Pirahna while crossing the swamp. When Choy fell into the water, Lumpy dived in to save him.
As they continued through the jungle, the group then began to cross a log bridging a deep chasm, and Hayes went ahead and was killed by Kong. The sailors began to shoot at the beast, and although Kong began to shake the log, Lumpy braced himself against a branch and was able to continue fighting. However, Choy was barely hanging onto the side and called for Lumpy's help. Lumpy threw down his weapon to help his friend, but he slipped from Lumpy's grasp as the creature shook the log again. Denham asked Lumpy to save his camera, but Lumpy spitefully kicked it off.
Lumpy gripped Choy's dead hand for a moment before allowing it to slip out of his grasp. Lumpy was supposedly killed and eaten by few giant leeches.
